10 Simple Ways To STOP
Spam From Your Inbox ...
I don't know about you, but I used to dread opening up my email inbox. I just knew
that doing so would start to onslaught of spam emails into it. Sadly however, it needed to be
There were a number of 'important' emails in there which wouldn't read themselves.
Thankfully however, the amount of spam that I receive has calmed down in recent weeks, and that is in part
down to the ten tips that I am going to share with you today.
Remember, you won't completely eradicate the spam emails that you receive, but you
should be able to eliminate a good chunk of them. So without further ado, let's learn how you can prevent
1.First tip to block spam is to not sign up to it in the first place. One of the
biggest mistakes you could possibly make is putting your email address into forms that you don't know too
much about. Remember, if somebody is asking for your email address, it is likely that they are going to send
you emails, and if you don't know anything about the company then it is more than likely going to be spam.
They may even sell on your email address which is going to open you up to even more spam!
2. If an email arrives from a mailing list that you don't trust, then hopefully there
should be an 'unsubscribe' link somewhere on the page. If there isn't then they will be breaking the law. If
there is, hit this link and you will be removed from the list. Hopefully it won't land in your box
3.How can you block spam when it lands in your inbox? Mark it as spam! Not only will
this stop the emails from getting anywhere near your inbox, but it also sends out a notification that this
message is actually spam, and the more notifications sent out, the less likely it is that people will receive
these emails in the future.
4.Set up a 'free email address' This won't actually stop spam completely, but it will
divert it to another email account. Basically, if you ever need to fill in a form online with your email
address, use the free one. That way all of the 'spam' will be diverted there. You only need to check it every
so often to make sure that you haven't missed anything important.
5.Don't put your email address online. This means on your website, visible on your
social media pages etc. The reason for this is because professional spammers have 'scrapping' software which
trawls the internet for links displayed in this manner. It then sends them spam emails.
6. If you have a business, have a 'contact form' on your site as opposed to an email
address. Not only is this going to be simpler to use for your customers, but it will also mean that bots
can't scrape your email address and send you emails which are nothing but a waste of time.
7. Use Spam blocking tools. There are plenty of them available online, many of them for
free. These will stop that spam landing in your inbox, giving you a nice clean box to browse through. Whilst
this is ideal to block spam, it may block some perfectly legitimate emails from time to time, so you will
need to keep an eye on that.
8.Do not enter your email address into freeware or shareware software programs. They
are doing this for a reason, and it isn't to keep you 'up to date' with software updates. Instead it is to
sell your email address onto third parties, who will of course end up spamming you!
9.Learn how to identify spam. Hopefully this should be fairly easy. Any email which
looks slightly unsavoury should come under this category. The quicker you are able to identify spam, the
better you will at being able to stop spam. This is because you can mark the emails as soon as they come in
as opposed to waiting for a number of them before you notice.
10.Finally, never click links in spam. This is not only unsafe for your computer, but it
also shows that your email address is active, which makes it worth more to spammers!
Of course, these are just a few ways that you can combat spam. Put these into
practice though and you will find that you end up with a far cleaner inbox sooner rather than
